Local State of Emergency Declared
On Wednesday, April 12, the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton declared a local state of emergency due to overland flooding and washed-out roads.
The state of emergency allows the Municipality prevent harm to the safety, health or welfare of our residents, to prevent damage to property within the boundaries, and most importantly, to control or prohibit travel to or from any area or road.
It is imperative for drivers to oblige all road closures – for your safety as well as the safety of staff and emergency personnel. It is estimated at least 70% of municipal roads in the southern portion of the RM are experiencing overland flooding and washouts, and are unsafe for travel.
Municipal staff continue to monitor the conditions and will close roads as needed. Please use extreme caution when travelling on all rural roads, as conditions are rapidly changing and roads may become unsafe at any time.
To report any unsafe road conditions, please submit a Service Request online at https://boissevain.ca/localgov/service-requests/
